Welcome, friends!
I am Elizabeth, a 3rd grade teacher in a Title I school in South Carolina. The 2015-2016 school year marks my sixth year teaching. I've taught many grades but 3rd grade is my absolute favorite and where I have spent the most time.
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in early childhood education from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. I am also endorsed in Gifted and Talented education and taught GT Language Arts for a year. Now, I use what I learned about gifted learners to help differentiate in my general education classroom.
Education truly is my passion and I couldn't imagine doing anything else! I started my career in 1st grade in the very same district I teach in today. At the end of my first year in the classroom, I relocated to Hoboken, New Jersey for my husband's job and taught innercity Kindergarten for a year.
In the fall of 2012, I took a leap of faith and accepted a new position as a 3rd grade teacher. It was difficult to leave a school where I felt very needed but the experience has provided me countless opportunities for professional development. I student taught 3rd grade and after working in a number of other grades, I feel like it is truly where I am meant to be.
When an opportunity presented itself to return home to the Carolinas, I said goodbye to a wonderful district and school but am happy to be "home" again. My husband and I now live in Charlotte, North Carolina. When I'm not teaching, you'll find me cooking, exercising, creating for my TpT store, and spending time with my husband and furchild, Riley.
Lipstick, Lattes, and Lesson Plans is my attempt to share my experience in my classroom - whether it be fun stories or trying moments. Teaching doesn't have much to do with lipstick and lattes (except that I couldn't get through the day without my coffee!) but those are two things I love! I'm looking forward to sharing some of the lessons I'm teaching in my classroom but also the lessons the kids are teaching me!
I hope you'll grab a latte of your own and stay awhile.
